“Goldie’s Last Days” by PFR • lyrics
Our dear, old dog Buddy passed away this morning. He was umpteen years old and died on his own terms, running around playing with our other dog, Logan. A little doggie heart attack, by the looks of it. Quick and painless.
It’s always hard to lose someone special to the family, and pets have their own special place in our hearts. It’s especially hard on little girls like ours, who have known him their whole lives. But, as kids are wont to do, they bounce back.
He’ll be interred in our backyard tonight. A final resting place for a dog who outlived the averages. We’ll miss you, Buddy. Sleep tight.
We never asked her
Never gave her a choice
We just barked out commands
Sit, stay, don’t beg, stop licking my hand
Those days are gone now
I wish Goldie could come out and play
